Web Mode (Odoo)
Access the complete Odoo backend directly from your Android device. Login happens automatically, the barcode scanner is always within reach and files download and print without additional configuration.
Overview
Web Mode brings the Odoo backend to your Android smartphone, exactly as you would see it from a computer. It's not a reduced or simplified version: every module, menu and Odoo function are accessible, with the complete desktop interface.
The difference compared to opening Odoo in your phone's browser is that SiltaFlow adds functions designed for field work: login happens automatically without typing credentials every time, the session stays open even when you exit the app and return later, the barcode scanner is integrated directly in the Odoo page and PDF reports download and print with a single tap.
Automatic Access and Session
Web Mode requires an active Odoo connection with database, user and password. API-key-only connections cannot open the web backend.
- Automatic login — On opening, SiltaFlow first tries background login on /web/session/authenticate; if it receives the session_id cookie, it opens /web directly.
- Instant opening — SiltaFlow prepares Odoo in the background as soon as the app starts. When you tap "Web Mode", the backend is already ready: no loading screen.
- Persistent session — The WebView stays alive while you navigate in the app and keeps page, history, zoom and fields until the Android process closes or the connection changes.
- Login fallback — If Odoo shows the login page, the app fills the form as fallback and retries at most twice.
To use Web Mode you must have configured the Odoo connection in SiltaFlow at least once, entering the server address, database, username and password. Check the Connection and Authentication guide for details.
Toolbar and settings panel
The toolbar includes Back, Return to app, Odoo Home, Refresh and Settings. Return to app closes the web view without destroying the session; Reset session clears cookies, recreates the WebView and starts login again.
The WebView panel contains Session, with status, server, database and reset; Navigation, with home, refresh and external-link notice; Shortcuts, to show label panel and camera scanner; Scanner, to choose the action after a scan.
The Odoo Interface on Android
Odoo appears in its complete desktop version: main menu, app list, list views, forms, kanban and all advanced widgets work normally. You navigate between modules exactly as you would from a computer.
- Desktop view with all columns, side menus and action buttons
- Pinch the screen to enlarge diagrams, attachments or product cards with high-resolution images
- All Odoo modules are accessible: Inventory, Sales, CRM, Accounting, MRP, Purchasing and any others installed on your instance
- Multi-step wizards, interactive dashboards and kanban views work without limitations
Barcode Scanner in Any Odoo Page
While in any Odoo page, a floating button with the barcode icon remains always visible in the bottom right. It lets you scan a code without leaving the page or changing apps.
The camera scanner can insert the barcode in three ways: active field, active field plus Enter, or Odoo search. If no field is active, SiltaFlow tries a visible barcode or search field before fallback.
How to use it
- Navigate in Odoo to the field where you want to enter the code (e.g. the Product field in a transfer, or the Batch field in a picking).
- Tap the field to select it: you'll see the cursor blinking inside.
- Tap the floating scanner button. The camera opens.
- Frame the barcode of the product, batch or any other element. The camera closes automatically as soon as the code is read.
- The value appears in the Odoo field as if you'd typed it by hand. Odoo reacts normally: shows search suggestions, validates the value and applies any configured automations.
Make sure the Odoo field is selected (cursor visible) before pressing the scanner. If no field is active, the read value has nowhere to go and will be ignored.
Zebra hardware scanner
Physical scanners in keyboard mode can write directly into Odoo fields because SiltaFlow leaves keyboard events to the WebView. SiltaFlow Intent DataWedge mode is designed for native screens and is ignored inside Odoo Web; on Zebra use the camera scanner button or a separate keystroke profile.
Download Files and Reports from Odoo
Odoo generates many file types: PDF reports (invoices, delivery notes, purchase orders), Excel export of lists and attachments. SiltaFlow handles these downloads transparently, even in cases where a normal mobile browser would struggle.
Direct download
HTTP/HTTPS downloads are saved to Downloads through DownloadManager including Odoo session cookies and User-Agent. If DownloadManager fails, SiltaFlow tries a manual download with the same cookies.
Reports generated on-the-fly (PDF and Excel)
Reports generated as blobs are intercepted, converted and saved to Downloads. When complete, the Downloaded file dialog appears with Open, Print and Close; PDFs use Android print service.
When these reports finish downloading, a window appears with two options:
- Open — Opens the file with the device's default viewer (e.g. the integrated PDF reader).
- Print — Opens the Android print dialog to send the document to a Wi-Fi or cloud printer connected to the device.
If a report doesn't download on the first tap, press the Print/Download button in Odoo again. In some cases the file takes an instant to be generated by the server and the second press completes the process.
Attach Files and Take Photos
When Odoo shows a file or image upload field, SiltaFlow opens Select or take photo: choose files, select multiple attachments when supported, or take a photo with FileProvider.
- Select a file already on the device (documents, gallery images, PDFs)
- Take a photo directly with the camera and attach it to the Odoo record without going through the gallery
- Select multiple files at once for fields that accept multiple attachments
On first use, Android will ask for permission to access the camera and device files. Once granted, it won't ask again.
The WebView stays inside the configured Odoo server. Relative URLs, same host and blob, data, about and javascript schemes are allowed; links to external hosts are blocked.
Print Labels from Odoo
In addition to the barcode scanner, Web Mode has a second floating button dedicated to label printing. Tapping it while in an Odoo page, SiltaFlow automatically reads the page context — the data model displayed and selected records — and opens the label panel ready to print.
The label panel works mainly from Odoo list views: if you selected rows with checkboxes it uses only those, otherwise it uses visible rows. Each row needs a real Odoo ID from data-res-id, data-res_id or a visible ID column.
How to use it
- Navigate in Odoo to the page from which you want to print labels (e.g. the product list, a picking, a product card).
- If in a list view, select the desired rows by checking the checkboxes.
- Tap the floating labels button (label icon, distinct from the barcode scanner).
- SiltaFlow automatically identifies the type of record you're viewing and the selected records.
- The labels panel opens with the available templates for that record type. Choose the template and start printing on your Zebra or Brother printer.
To print labels you must have configured at least one Zebra or Brother printer in SiltaFlow's settings. Automatic page recognition works on all major standard Odoo views in Italian, English, French, Spanish and German.
Use Cases
Warehouse operator
The operator opens Web Mode to check stock levels, review pending transfers and confirm pickings. He scans the barcode of a pallet: the code appears in the Odoo search field instantly. If he finds an anomaly in a document, he downloads it as a PDF and prints it to the warehouse printer in two taps.
Production manager
In the department, the manager reviews the production plan, confirms work orders and records component consumption. He uses the scanner to enter batches without typing errors. Technical documents attached open directly in the app.
Sales representative on the go
In the field, the rep creates quotes, reviews customer order history and prints offers as PDF. Thanks to the persistent session, he can pause work to answer a call and resume exactly where he left off, with the form still filled in.
Driver and field operator
The driver reviews delivery notes directly in Odoo, without needing pre-printed sheets prepared in advance. He scans the barcodes of parcels to find rows in the picking and confirm delivery. The delivery note is downloaded as PDF and opened or printed in seconds.
Service technician
The technician records spare parts used, fills in the timesheet and attaches photos of repairs directly to the Odoo record. At the end of the service he prints the repair report from the device.
Web Mode vs. Phone Browser
Why use SiltaFlow's Web Mode instead of opening Odoo in Chrome or Safari on your phone?
| Feature | SiltaFlow Web Mode | Phone browser |
|---|---|---|
| Access to Odoo | Automatic, zero clicks | Manual each session |
| Opening speed | Instant (pre-loaded) | Full loading every time |
| Barcode scanner | Integrated, always visible | Not available |
| Download PDF and reports | Always works, including on-the-fly generated reports | Often blocked on Android |
| Print documents | With one tap from the post-download dialog | Not always available |
| Print labels | Integrated, from Odoo context | Not available |
| Navigation session | Persistent even when switching apps | Interrupted when switching apps |
Tips
Keep SiltaFlow open in the background instead of closing it completely. The longer the app stays in memory, the faster Web Mode will open. Standby battery consumption is minimal.
Before using the scanner, always tap the Odoo field where you want to insert the code. This ensures the read value ends up in the right place.
On some devices (Xiaomi, Huawei, Samsung) battery optimization can terminate the app in the background, forcing Odoo to reload. If this happens often, go to device settings and add SiltaFlow to the list of apps excluded from battery optimization.
If Web Mode shows Odoo's login page instead of the backend, the session has expired and automatic renewal failed. Check that the credentials in SiltaFlow's settings are still valid (password not changed, server address correct).
Requirements
To use SiltaFlow's Web Mode you need:
- Active internet connection (Web Mode doesn't work offline)
