Print Product Labels
Search for products in the Odoo catalog, scan barcodes, create a print queue and print professional labels on any printer — Zebra, Brother, Bluetooth thermal or your office network printer.
Overview
Product Label Printing is SiltaFlow's control center for everything related to labels. From a single screen you can search for products in your catalog Odoo, build a list of items to label, choose how many labels to print for each and start printing with a single touch.
It works with five different types of printers — from the Zebra warehouse to the Brother office, through any economical thermal printer or the Wi-Fi printer already on the network. The module takes care of all the technical part: you choose the product, the quantity and the printer, and it does the rest.
To search for products, an active connection to the server Odoo is required. Once the products are queued, rendering and printing can take place even without a connection.
Finding Products to Label
When you open Label Printer, the first thing to do is find the products you want to label. You can do this in three different ways:
- Search by text — Type the product name, internal code or barcode in the search bar. The results update as you write, directly from the catalog Odoo.
- Barcode Scan — Use the physical scanner connected to the device or the camera to scan the product's barcode. The item is automatically found and added to the queue.
- Advanced filters — Apply one or more filters (category, price, stock, supplier and many others) to select a group of products. Then use the Add All button to queue them all at once.
It is not necessary to type the complete code: even the first 3-4 digits of the internal code are sufficient to find the product. The search works simultaneously on name, internal code and barcode.
Filter by Category or Attribute
Advanced filters allow you to select products based on over twenty different criteria: category, sales price, cost price, available stock, weight, supplier, status (active or archived) and many others.
For each criterion you can choose the most suitable operator: equal to, contains, greater than, between, is empty and others. You can combine multiple filters together: for example "category = Clothing" and "sale price greater than 50".
Once the filters are applied, the number of matching products is shown in the search bar. Tap Add All to put them all in the print queue with quantities of 1 each — you can then edit the quantities in the queue individually.
The Print Queue
The print queue is the list of products you are about to label. You can add products individually or in bulk, set the quantity for each and remove the ones you no longer need.
- Quantity per item — Next to each product there is a field where you can change the number of labels to print. The total at the bottom of the screen updates immediately.
- Remove a product — Swipe left on the product row to remove it from the queue. You can also empty the entire queue with the dedicated button.
- Summary bar — At the bottom of the screen you will always find the number of distinct items in the queue and the total number of labels to print. Instant update with every change.
- The queue is saved — If you close the app and reopen it, you find the queue exactly as it was. You don't lose the work done.
The queue supports a maximum of 500 distinct items. For larger volumes, divide the job into multiple consecutive printing sessions.
Choose the Label Template
The template is the visual "model" of the label: it establishes what appears on the label and where — the product name, barcode, price, date, or any other information you need.
Before printing, select the template you want to use from the list. If you need to create or edit a template, go to the Templates and Formulas section of the documentation.
The templates support texts, barcodes in all common formats (EAN-13, Code 128, QR Code and many others), rectangles, lines and the date/time of the moment of printing. They can also contain calculated fields: for example, a field showing the price with VAT automatically calculated from the net price Odoo.
Choose the Printer
SiltaFlow works with five types of printer connections. Choose the one suitable for the printer you have available:
| Printer type | Connection | Typical models |
|---|---|---|
| Printers Zebra | Bluetooth or Wi-Fi | ZD421, ZD220, ZQ320, QLn420 and other ZQ, ZD, ZT series |
| Printers Brother | Bluetooth or Wi-Fi | QL-820NWB, TD-4550DNWB, RJ-4250WB and other QL, TD, RJ, PT series |
| Generic thermal printer | Bluetooth | Any cheap Bluetooth thermal printer (58mm or 80mm paper) |
| Network / office printer | Wi-Fi, USB, cloud | Any Android-compatible printer (includes multifunction and laser printers) |
| Wi-Fi Direct printer | P2P direct connection without router | Models Brother and Zebra with Wi-Fi Direct enabled |
Setting up a Printer for the First Time
Tap the printer icon at the top right to open the setup. Select the printer type and tap Search for printers: the app automatically finds available printers nearby via Bluetooth or on your Wi-Fi network and shows them in a list.
Tap the printer you want to use: the connection occurs automatically. Then tap Print Test Page to check that everything is working and that the label is aligned correctly.
Tap Save to Favorites and give the printer a name (for example "Zebra Warehouse A" or "Brother Reception"). In the future, you can reconnect to this printer with just one touch, without having to search again.
Always use favorites to reconnect to printers already configured. Automatic search consumes battery: reconnecting from favorites is much faster and uses much less energy.
The Presets: Print with One Touch
A preset is a saved combination of printer, label template, and layout settings. It is used for operations that you repeat often: instead of choosing the printer, template and format every time, just touch the name of the preset and printing starts immediately.
To create a preset: After selecting your printer and template, tap Save Preset and give it a descriptive name — for example, "Merchandise Receipt Zebra," "Price Tags Brother," or "Wi-Fi Shelf Labels." The preset is saved in the list and you can recall it at any time.
Create a preset for each recurring operation. Going from 5-6 setup steps to just 1 touch makes a big difference when you print dozens of times a day.
Printing on Label Sheets (Avery Layout)
If you use A4 sheets with multiple labels arranged in rows and columns — like classic Avery sheets — you can configure the layout directly in the app: number of rows, number of columns, sheet margins and space between labels.
If the sheet is already partially used, you can indicate which cell to start from. For example, if you have already printed the first 6 labels of a sheet of 24, indicate "row 2, column 3" as the starting point: the app automatically calculates where to put the next labels and does not waste the cells already used.
Start Printing
When the queue is ready, the template is chosen, and the printer is connected, tap Print All. The app processes the products one by one: it retrieves the updated data from Odoo, fills in the template with the product information (name, barcode, price, etc.) and sends the label to the printer.
At the end, a summary is shown with the number of labels successfully printed. If any product was not printed correctly, the summary indicates this with the reason.
The rendering of the label occurs completely on the device, without the need for an internet connection. If the product data has already been uploaded to the queue, you can print even without an active connection to Odoo.
Practical Examples
Set up a Printer Zebra and Print the First Label
- Open Print Product Labels from the SiltaFlow main screen and tap the printer icon at the top right.
- Select the Printer type Zebra and tap Search for printers. Printers Zebra available in Bluetooth or Wi-Fi appear in the list with their name and model.
- Tap the desired printer (for example "ZD421-Warehouse"). The connection occurs automatically. Tap Print Test Page to verify that the alignment is correct.
- Tap Save to Favorites and give it a name, for example "Zebra Warehouse A". In future sessions you will be able to reconnect with just one tap.
- Return to the main screen, search for a product by name, add it to the queue and set the quantity to 5. Select the template to use and tap Print all.
- Tap Save Preset and give the preset a name, for example "Zebra Warehouse — Standard Template". Next time, just a tap on this preset will be enough to print directly, without reconfiguring anything.
Batch Printing with Filters: All Products in a Category
- Tap the filter icon next to the search bar and add the Category filter with the desired value, for example "Clothing".
- Add a second filter, for example Sales price greater than 50. The two filters combine automatically: only products that meet both conditions are shown.
- The search bar shows the number of products found, for example "34 products". Tap Add All: All 34 are placed in the queue with quantity 1.
- In the queue, change the quantity of some specific products if you need more copies. The bar at the bottom shows the total updated in real time.
- If there are products to exclude, swipe the row to the left to remove them. The total updates automatically.
- Select the preset or printer, then tap Print All. At the end the app shows the summary with the number of labels printed.
Reprint a Damaged Label in Seconds
- Scan the barcode of the damaged label (even partially readable) with the device's camera.
- The product is automatically found in Odoo and added to the queue with quantity 1.
- Tap the preset already configured for that printer. The replacement label prints immediately, without opening your computer or accessing Odoo from your browser.
Tips
Create a preset for each type of recurring operation: goods receipt, shelf reprint, promotional price tags. Each preset remembers your printer, template and format - just one tap to get started.
To find products in stock, barcode scanning is the fastest and most accurate method. It also works with damaged or partially readable barcodes.
With partially used Avery sheets, indicate the first free cell in the layout settings before printing. The app will place the labels starting from that point, without wasting the cells already printed.
After each restart of a printer Zebra, always print the test page before starting an important job. This clears any remaining data and checks that the label alignment is correct.
For labeling work across entire categories or departments, use advanced filters and the Add All button – it's much faster than searching and adding products one by one.
