Scrap
Delete damaged, expired or non-compliant goods directly from your Android device. Scan the product, indicate location and quantity, choose the reason and confirm: SiltaFlow registers everything on Odoo in seconds.
Irreversible operation. Every confirmed scrap permanently reduces inventory on Odoo. It's not possible to undo a scrap directly from the app: always verify product, location and quantity in the summary before tapping Confirm.
Overview
Scrap is the SiltaFlow function dedicated to controlled elimination of unusable stock: damaged goods, expired products, items that don't meet quality specifications. The interface uses red colors and a permanent warning to remind the operator that this operation cannot be undone from the app.
The workflow is organized in four tabs visible all together on screen: scan the product, choose location, enter quantity and optionally indicate the reason. Before confirming, the app shows a complete summary: only after your go-ahead are the data sent to Odoo.
You can also use Scrap directly from within a pick or batch: if during picking you find defective items, you can scrap them on the fly without leaving the work flow. In this context an option is also available to automatically request replenishment of the eliminated goods.
How to Start Scrap
There are two ways to access the Scrap function:
- From Warehouse menu — From the SiltaFlow main screen, go to Warehouse section and tap Scrap. The screen opens with four operational tabs and red visual theme.
- From a pick or batch — If you're already working on a pick order or batch, tap the three dots at the top right in the title bar and select Scrap Items. A more compact panel opens, already pre-filled with pick information.
Scrap requires an active connection to Odoo: data is sent to the server at the moment you confirm. If you're not connected, the final confirm button is disabled.
The four tabs of the wizard
When you open Scrap from the Warehouse menu, you find four tabs all visible and scrollable. You can fill them in any order you prefer. Here's what each one does:
Tab 1 — Search for product
Identify the product to scrap in one of three ways:
- Camera — Tap the camera icon and frame the barcode. The app automatically recognizes the product.
- Hardware scanner — If you use a Zebra or Honeywell terminal, press the trigger: the product is identified instantly.
- Text search — Type the product name or internal code in the search field. Results appear as you type.
Once selected, the product appears on the tab with name and code. If you selected the wrong product, tap the X on the tab to remove it and search again.
Always use barcode scanning when possible: it's faster than typing and eliminates the risk of selecting the wrong product.
Tab 2 — Choose location
After selecting the product, the app shows only the locations where that product has available stock. If the product is in only one location, it's selected automatically without any action from you. If the product is in multiple places, a list appears for you to choose.
If the product is tracked by lot number, a lot selector also appears on the same tab. Choose the specific lot to scrap before proceeding.
Tab 3 — Enter quantity
The tab shows the quantity currently available in the chosen location as a reference. Enter the number of pieces (or kg, liters, etc.) you want to scrap.
If you need to dispose of all available stock, tap the "All" button: the field automatically fills with the entire available quantity.
Tab 4 — Reason (optional)
The fourth tab is optional: you can choose one of five preset reasons by tapping it, or write freely in the text field. This information is useful as a visual reminder during the session.
- Damaged — goods with visible physical damage
- Expired — product with exceeded expiration date
- Defective — item with functional defect detected on inspection
- Non-Compliant (Quality) — product that doesn't pass quality tests
- Other — any other reason, to specify in the text field
The reason selected in the app is currently not written to Odoo. It serves as a visual reminder for the operator, but doesn't appear in the scrap record on Odoo. If you need to formally record the reason, you'll need to add it manually to the record via Odoo Web.
Summary and Confirmation
Before sending any data to Odoo, the app shows a summary screen with all information you entered: product, location, quantity and reason. This is your last check before the operation becomes permanent.
If everything is correct, tap the Confirm button (in red). If you noticed an error, tap Cancel to go back and correct the data: up to this point no data has been modified on Odoo.
After confirmation, the app shows a success message and the four tabs reset, ready for a possible subsequent scrap. Inventory on Odoo is updated immediately.
Scrap from within a pick
If during a pick you find damaged or non-compliant items, you can scrap them directly without leaving the pick screen. Tap the three dots at the top right and select Scrap Items.
The panel that opens is already pre-filled with pick information: product, lot and location are those of the row you're working on. You can modify them if necessary, enter the quantity to scrap and confirm.
Features available only from scrap in picking
- Package selection — If the goods are already packaged in a package, you can indicate which package contains the items to scrap. Odoo updates quantities at the package level too.
- Request replenishment — Enable this option to signal to Odoo that the scrapped quantity must be replenished. The system automatically generates a purchase suggestion to cover the shortage.
- Maximum quantity — In the picking context, you can't scrap more than the quantity reserved for that row. This prevents creating scraps exceeding the availability of the pick.
After scrap from picking, the pick row is automatically updated: if the row had 5 pieces reserved and you scrap 2, you have 3 pieces left to pick. You'll never be asked to pick items that no longer exist in the warehouse.
Practical Examples
Disposing of a damaged product found in the warehouse
You're checking a shelf and find 5 seals with crushed packaging. Here's how to scrap them:
- Open SiltaFlow, go to Warehouse and tap Scrap.
- Tab 1: tap the camera icon and frame the barcode on the package. The app recognizes the product: OR 50mm Seal.
- Tab 2: the product is in two locations. Tap WH/Stock/Shelf A3 (the one you're physically at).
- Tab 3: enter 5 in the quantity field. Don't tap "All" because you want to scrap only part.
- Tab 4: tap Damaged and write "Crushed packages, shelf A3".
- In the summary, verify the data and tap Confirm. Inventory on Odoo reduces by 5 pieces.
Disposing of a lot of expired products with the "All" button
You're doing a check in the refrigerated section and find an entire pallet of expired product:
- Open Scrap from the Warehouse menu.
- Tab 1: scan the GS1 barcode on the pallet. App identifies: Swordfish Steaks.
- Tab 2: select the lot from the selector. Location (WH/Refrigerated/Cell 2) selects itself because it's the only one.
- Tab 3: tap the "All" button to scrap all available stock (36 kg).
- Tab 4: tap Expired, add "Expiration 31/01/2025, authorization ref. 2026/0441".
- Confirm in the summary. Odoo updates inventory to zero for that lot.
Scrapping defective items during a pick
You're preparing order WH/OUT/0892 and notice 2 of the 6 reserved pieces have visible cracks:
- Without leaving the pick screen, tap the three dots at the top right.
- Select Scrap Items. The panel opens with product and lot already pre-filled.
- Enter 2 in the quantity field. Select Defective as the reason.
- Enable the Request Replenishment toggle, then tap Confirm.
- The pick row updates to 4 reserved pieces. You can pick the remaining ones and complete the order. Odoo automatically sends a purchase suggestion for the 2 missing pieces.
Tips
Always check the summary before confirming. The Confirm button is red and the action cannot be undone from the app. An error requires manual intervention on Odoo to restore inventory.
Use the Request Replenishment flag when scrapping items critical for orders in progress. The procurement manager immediately receives the notification on Odoo and can intervene before the shortage blocks shipments.
Don't use Scrap to correct count discrepancies. If you find a difference without a physical cause (broken goods, expired, etc.), use the Inventory Count function instead: it generates a corrective movement with a different reason and keeps adjustment traceability separate.
The app doesn't show scrap history. To analyze historical data (most-scrapped products, recurring causes, monthly trends), go to Odoo Web: Inventory > Scraps. Periodic analysis can reveal supplier quality issues or storage condition problems.
Limits and Requirements
Before using the Scrap function, keep these limitations in mind:
- Cannot be undone from the app — A confirmed scrap cannot be reversed from SiltaFlow. To restore inventory, a manual inventory adjustment by an admin on Odoo Web is necessary.
- Connection required — Scrap doesn't work offline. Connection to Odoo server is necessary at confirmation time.
- One product at a time — Each scrap operation concerns one product only. To scrap multiple products, run successive operations: the wizard resets automatically after each confirmation.
- Lot required if product is tracked — If the product uses lot or serial tracking, you must select the lot before being able to confirm.
- Odoo permissions necessary — The Odoo account configured in the app must have the Warehouse Worker role (or higher) to create scrap records.
- No history in app — SiltaFlow doesn't save a local record of scraps. To view complete history, use Odoo Web.
