Manufacturing Overview

Operational guide to SiltaFlow Manufacturing: from MRP flow selection to orders, components, workstations, finished goods, quality, scrap and printing.

Overview

Manufacturing brings the main Odoo MRP flows to the operational device: production orders, component picking, workstation execution, finished goods declaration and shop-floor settings. Odoo remains the system of record: SiltaFlow reads and writes through the active Odoo connection, so permissions, installed modules and server rules decide what can actually be done.

Use it when operators need to work at the line or bench without returning to the Odoo browser for every action: check the order, prepare materials, run a work order, record quality, declare scrap, complete finished goods and print labels or reports.

Manufacturing requires an enabled plan or trial and an active Odoo connection. It is not offline: orders, quantities, lots, quality, scrap, documents and printing are read from or written to Odoo.

When to use it

The area fits both simple one-step production and structured flows with component picking, work orders, quality checks and final storage.

  • Production Orders — search an MO, read state and quantities, check BOM, components, work orders, documents and progress.
  • Component Picking — prepare or consume materials with scanner, manual quantities, lots, serials and linked pickings.
  • Workstation — let the operator start, consume, read documents, record quality, anomalies, scrap, finish and print.
  • Finished Goods — declare produced quantity, assign final lot or serial, close the MO and validate final moves.
  • Manufacturing Settings — decide visible sections, task filters, flow, quality, scrap, photos, documents and printing.

First setup

  1. Check that the Odoo user can read MOs and write on the functions you will use.
  2. Choose operator context: ODOO_USER for personal devices, MANUAL for shared devices, WORKCENTER for fixed stations.
  3. Choose task filter: MY_TASKS or MY_WORKCENTER for operators, ALL for supervisors.
  4. Choose the flow: ONE_STEP, TWO_STEP, THREE_STEP or AUTO_FROM_ODOO.
  5. Run a pilot MO before releasing the device to production.
  1. Open Production Orders and confirm that expected MOs, products, quantities and BOMs are visible.
  2. Test Component Picking on a real MO, including a tracked component.
  3. Use the Workstation if work orders are enabled: start, read documents, complete quality and register a controlled scrap.
  4. Declare Finished Goods with quantity, final lot and final picking if configured.
  5. Return to Settings and keep only the sections the shop floor really uses.

Practical example

A planner creates an MO for 100 lot-tracked units. The operator filters by MY_WORKCENTER, picks components with lots, starts the work order, completes quality, records scrap if needed and finally declares 98 good units with the final lot. The basket, when enabled, is only a visual summary; Odoo still controls validation, backorders, final moves and stock.

Tips

  • Pilot at least one MO without work orders, one with work orders, one with tracked components and one with tracked finished goods.
  • If operators see too much work, adjust operator mode and filters before changing Odoo permissions.
  • Configure routings, BOMs, work centers, quality and stock rules in Odoo first.
  • Test printing with the real device and printer.

Requirements and limits

  • Manufacturing plan or trial, active Odoo connection and valid credentials are required.
  • Actions depend on Odoo permissions and installed modules such as MRP, Stock, Quality, Documents and reports.
  • Odoo wizards may appear for immediate validation, backorders and partial closures.
  • MANUAL and WORKCENTER modes require a selected operator or work center.
  • Manufacturing scanning uses simple product code/barcode or lot/serial values; it is not a dedicated GS1 parser.
