Batch Transfers
Manage multiple transfers at the same time by grouping them into a single batch. Start, monitor and complete picking groups with just a few taps, reducing warehouse trips and increasing operator productivity.
Overview
Batch Transfers allow you to group multiple pickings into a single work package - the batch - and manage them together from your Android device. Instead of opening and closing each picking one at a time, you work on all the batch movements in a single screen, with an overview of the work to be done and what has already been completed.
To access Batch Transfers, from the SiltaFlow main screen, tap the Warehouse section and then "Batch Transfers". Batches are typically created and assigned by the warehouse manager via Odoo; the operator finds them ready in the list.
To use Batch Transfers, an active connection to the server Odoo is required. Make sure you have configured your login credentials correctly before starting.
Batch List
When you open Batch Transfers, you see the list of all available batches in Odoo. The screen opens with the "All" filter active, which simultaneously shows the batches in draft and those already started — so that you have all the work of the shift immediately available.
Filters by state
Use the filters at the top of the screen to focus on the batches that interest you:
- All — Shows draft and in-progress batches. It is the active filter upon opening.
- Draft — Only batches not yet started, waiting to be assigned or scheduled.
- In progress — Batches already started with picking partially completed.
- Completed — Batches closed, useful for post-shift verification.
Research
You can search for a batch by typing its name in the search bar, or by scanning the barcode of the paper document with your hardware scanner. If you use a Zebra scanner with DataWedge configured, the read code is automatically inserted into the search field without having to type anything.
The information in the list
Each batch in the list shows essential information at a glance: the name of the batch, a colored badge with the status, the number of pickings included, the assigned operator and the scheduled date. If the batch is still in draft form, a "Start Batch" button appears directly on the card, so you can start it without having to open the detail.
The list automatically updates every 90 seconds. If anyone has modified or added batches from Odoo in the meantime, a banner appears at the top with the message "Update". Tap the banner when you want to reload — the app doesn't update itself so as not to interrupt the work in progress.
Batch detail
Tapping a batch in the list opens the detail screen. At the top you will find four indicators that immediately give you a picture of the progress: the percentage of completion, the number of locations involved, the number of pickings in the batch and how many distinct products you need to collect.
How to group rows
You can choose how to display the batch rows via a tabbed selector. Each mode is designed for a different type of work:
| Mode | How he organizes the lines | Ideal for |
|---|---|---|
| By Location | All rows from the same shelf appear together | Reduce journeys: collect everything from a shelf before moving |
| For Picking | The rows are grouped by membership transfer | Complete one order at a time, useful with separate packages per customer |
| By Product | Shows the total quantity to be collected for each item across all pickings | Immediately understand how many total units to withdraw before distributing them in orders |
The information on each line
Each row of the batch shows the product to be picked, its location, the picking to which it belongs, the reserved quantity and the quantity already carried out. Completed rows have a different colored background, so you can see at a glance how much is left to finish.
Tap a row (not the "Pick" button) to directly open the corresponding picking detail. From there you can perform barcode scans, manage batches, serial numbers, packages and any other advanced operation.
Confirm Withdrawals
You have two ways to confirm that you have picked an item: quick pick and detailed picking. Choose the most suitable one based on the type of product.
Quick pick with one touch
The "Pick" button on each line is the fastest way to confirm a withdrawal. By tapping it, the app automatically records the amount performed equal to the amount reserved — without opening any other screens. The line changes color immediately to let you know that it has been processed.
Use quick pick for products without batch or serial number traceability. It is designed to speed up the picking of common items where individual scanning is not necessary.
Detailed picking for tracked products
For products with a lot or serial number, tap the row (not the "Pick" button) to open the picking detail. From here you can scan the batch or serial code, manage partial quantities, assign packages and specific destinations. When finished, return to the batch to continue with the next lines.
Assign the operator
At the top of the detail screen you will find a drop-down menu with all active Odoo users. By selecting a user, the batch is assigned to that operator in Odoo in real time. The assignment is also visible in the batch list, allowing the manager to check who is working on what without having to call anyone.
Batch Life Cycle
A batch is born in the "Draft" state, is started and worked on, then completed or canceled. All actions are accessible directly from the app with buttons that appear only when the action is available for that state.
| Current status | Action available | Resulting state | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Draft | Start Batch | In progress | Also available from the card in the list, without opening the detail |
| In progress | Complete | Completed | Show a confirmation dialog; automatically validates all picking included |
| In progress | Cancel | Cancelled | Executed immediately without confirmation; also cancels associated pickings if not yet validated |
| Draft | Cancel | Cancelled | Executed immediately without confirmation dialogue |
| Completed | Read only | — | Completed batches can be viewed but not edited from the app |
When you press "Complete", Odoo validates all pickings included in the batch. If some pickings have partial quantities or missing lots, an automatic backorder could be created based on the picking type configuration.
Practical Examples
Multi-order daily shipping
The manager created a batch with 8 orders to ship. Open SiltaFlow, you find the batch in the list ("All" filter active). Open the batch: Statistics show 33 total rows across 6 locations. Select the "By Location" view and browse the shelves in order.
For each untracked product line, press "Pick" - the line turns green instantly. For an item with a serial number, you tap the line, scan the code in the picking detail, go back to the batch. When all 33 lines are green, press "Complete Batch", confirm in the dialogue and Odoo automatically validates all 8 orders.
Update while working
You are working on a batch when the manager adds 2 pickings from Odoo backend. After 90 seconds a banner appears at the top of the list: "2 batches updated — Update". You don't want to lose context, so you continue the current line and only tap the banner when you've finished the location.
After tapping the banner, the list reloads: your batch badge now shows "10 Pickings". Re-enter the batch and find the 2 new lines to do at the bottom of the list.
Comparison of grouping methods
You have a batch with 3 pickings (A, B, C), each with 4 lines on 5 locations in the same aisle. With the "For Picking" view, walk down the corridor 3 times passing the same locations. With the "By Location" view, you walk down the aisle only once, collecting everything from each shelf: estimated savings of 60% on journeys.
Tips
Choose the grouping method based on the context: use "By Location" for daily physical picking (maximum efficiency in journeys), "By Picking" for order-by-order packing or quality control, "By Product" to immediately understand how many total units of each item to collect.
If your paper documents list the batch code as a barcode, use the scanner Zebra to find the batch in one second instead of typing its name. Configure the DataWedge profile from Settings → Hardware Scanner.
Always assign the operator before starting the batch. The assignment is recorded in Odoo and is used for traceability: in the case of post-shift checks, the system indicates who physically carried out the sampling.
Before pressing "Complete Batch", tap the update banner if it is present. This way you ensure you have the most recent data and avoid possible conflicts with changes made in the meantime by Odoo backend.
If a batch contains picking of different types (for example customer exit and internal transfer), the validation via "Complete Batch" may behave differently for each type. Please check your configuration with your administrator Odoo.
Limitations and Considerations
- No automatic route optimization — Classic batch picking does not calculate the optimal route between locations. For this functionality use Smart Batch Picking.
- Rapid pick only for untracked products — For products with lot or serial number it is always necessary to open the picking detail for scanning.
- Partial quantities from picking detail — The "Pick" button always sets the total reserved quantity. To confirm a different quantity, open the picking detail and change the value manually.
- Backorders managed at picking level — If some pickings have partial quantities at the time of completion, backorders are created according to the picking type settings in Odoo.
- Updates with a 90 second delay — Changes made by other users are detected with a maximum delay of 90 seconds. This is not an immediate update.
- No Multi-User Locking — If two operators open and edit the same batch at the same time, the changes are saved in the order they arrive at the server without conflict warnings.
- Read-only Completed Batches — Batches in the "Completed" state cannot be edited by the app. For corrections on picking already validated, operate directly from Odoo backend.
- Connection always required — All operations (start, pick, complete, cancel) require an active connection to Odoo. Offline mode is not supported.
