Packages

View and manage physical warehouse pallets directly from your Android device. Search for a package, check what it contains, move it, unpack it or print the label — all without returning to your computer.

Overview

The Packages module in SiltaFlow lets you work with physical pallets in your warehouse: those containers (pallets, cartons, crates) that group multiple products into a single labeled unit. Each package has a unique name (like PACK-0042), a location, a packaging type, and a list of products inside.

The main screen is a list of packages with quick search. With an empty query you see the packages in local cache (instant opening); typing a name or scanning a label runs a real-time search on your Odoo server.

To use the Packages module you need an active connection to your Odoo server configured in SiltaFlow settings. The local list is available even without a connection, but operations (moving, unpacking, etc.) require an active connection.

Each package in the list shows a colored badge indicating its status:

Searching for a Package

From the main module screen you can find a package in three ways:

Label scanning is the fastest way to find a package, especially in a warehouse. GS1-128 barcodes (SSCC format) are recognized in less than 100 milliseconds and the result appears almost instantly from the local cache.

Package Details

Tap a package in the list to open its complete card. Here you find all the information about the package, organized in sections.

General Information

At the top of the card you find the main data of the package:

Package Contents

Contents are divided into two separate tabs, giving you a clear view of what is already confirmed and what is still in progress:

If a package has many different products inside, the first 50 items per tab are loaded immediately. Tap "Show more" to see the rest.

Shipping Information

If the package is already associated with an outbound shipment, you find in this section the transfer number, carrier, tracking code and scheduled date. If the package is not yet assigned to any shipment, the section does not appear.

Movement History

This section shows the history of the package: every time it was loaded, unloaded or moved. Entries are ordered from newest to oldest and colored based on operation type — green for loading, red for unloading, light blue for location transfers.

Available Operations

From the package details you can perform five operations. Buttons are shown or hidden based on the current package status.

Move Package

Change the package location without creating a transfer on Odoo. Tap "Move Package", select the new location from the list (you can search by name) and confirm. The package is moved immediately on Odoo. Useful for quickly reorganizing the warehouse.

Unpack

Empty the package leaving products free in the same location. The package remains registered on Odoo but becomes empty and can be reused or deleted. Available only if the package contains at least one product. Before confirming you see a summary of what will be moved out of the package.

Delete

Permanently remove the package from Odoo. Available only if the package is completely empty — there are no products inside and no operations in progress involving it. The operation is irreversible: you are asked for explicit confirmation before proceeding.

Before deleting a package with a long history of movements, verify on the Odoo backend that it is not mentioned in already-issued documents (shipping invoices, customs declarations). Deletion could cause inconsistencies in those documents.

Create New Package

You can create a new package directly from the app in two simple steps:

  1. Packaging Type — Choose the container type from the list configured on Odoo (Europallet, Carton S/M/L, Wooden Crate, etc.).
  2. Initial Location — Indicate where the newly created package is physically located in the warehouse.

The package name (e.g., PACK-0079) is generated automatically by Odoo. You don't need to enter it manually: after creation the package appears immediately in the list with its final name.

Print Label

From the package card you can print the label in two ways:

Printing via Label Panel requires that the Android device and thermal printer are on the same local network. Printing over VPN or on remote networks is not guaranteed.

Reusable and Single-Use

Each package can be classified as reusable or single-use. This distinction is visible in the package card and affects how it is managed during warehouse operations.

Classification Examples Typical use
Reusable Europallet, wooden crate, roll container, tray Used multiple times, it is emptied and reset for the next cycle
Single-use Shipping carton, bag, blister Used for a single shipment, then discarded or disposed

Reusable packages are also used in the Cluster Picking flow: cart containers are associated with reusable packages during picking. At the end, in the Packing Zone, the contents are transferred to a single-use package for shipment. The reusable package returns empty and available for the next cycle.

Practical Examples

Receipt and Palletization

The carrier delivers two pallets of material. Before starting receipt, the warehouse operator creates two Europallet packages from the app, setting location to WH/Input. Names are auto-generated: PACK-0091 and PACK-0092.

During receipt confirmation, for each product select the destination package. After validation, both packages show the green "Validated" badge with product count. Finally print the SSCC labels via Label Panel on the warehouse's thermal printer.

Unpacking and Reuse

PACK-0015 (reusable wooden crate) contains products to be distributed to different locations. The manager opens the card, taps "Unpack" and confirms. Products are released in the same location as the package. The next day, the crate is associated with a new receipt as a destination container — without creating a new package.

Quick Verification with Scanner

The quality manager has a carton with the label in hand. Opens SiltaFlow, points the scanner at the barcode: in less than a second the package details appear with the complete product list, lots and shipping information. All without typing anything.

Tips

Use SSCC format (GS1-128) on package labels. It is the international logistics standard and is recognized in less than 100 ms by the Zebra scanner. SiltaFlow opens the corresponding package almost instantly from local cache, without waiting for the network.

Configure packaging types on Odoo with the correct tare weight (e.g., Europallet = 20 kg). This way SiltaFlow can show you both the net weight of the contents and the gross weight, reducing errors in carrier declarations.

Decide in advance which physical containers are reusable and which are single-use. A clear taxonomy avoids confusion during Cluster Picking and simplifies operations in the Packing Zone.

Use Label Panel to print labels directly from the package details. The print queue manages sending and reports any errors — much faster than printing from the Odoo backend.
