Browse Locations

Walk through your warehouse structure directly from your smartphone: navigate from one area to another with a simple tap, discover what's in each position and print labels on-site — without opening Odoo on the computer.

Overview

Browse Locations lets you visually navigate the warehouse as if you were browsing a map. Instead of starting from a product, here you start from the physical place: choose the warehouse, then the zone, then the shelf, then the single shelf — and at each step you immediately see what's inside.

At the top of the screen you always find the path you've followed so far, with each step clickable: if you want to go back to a previous level you don't need to press "Back" multiple times, just tap the name of the area you want to go back to. A special button brings you straight to the start of the tree.

When you arrive at a position of interest, the app shows the list of all products present at that point with their respective quantities. Tap a product to see the complete inventory detail. From every location you can also print the label directly: downloading it as a PDF or sending it to a Zebra or Brother printer connected.

The screen shows only physical warehouse positions. Virtual Odoo locations (like "Customers", "Suppliers", "Transit") don't appear in the main list — only real places where products can physically be located.

When you open Browse Locations, you see the first-level warehouses configured in Odoo. Each item in the list shows the position name and type. Tap an item to enter the next level.

You can descend in depth as much as your warehouse structure allows: from "WH/Stock" to "Zone A", from there to "Shelf A-01", then to "Shelf A-01-L2". Each tap loads the contents of that level, without waiting for the app to load everything in advance.

The path at the top of the screen is clickable at every point. If you've descended to the fifth level and want to go back to the second, simply tap the second node in the path — without needing to press "Back" three times.

Direct access to a location

If you're in the QuickInfo screen and select a location, the app takes you directly to that position in Browse Locations, automatically reconstructing the entire path. You don't navigate from the start: you're already at the right place, with the path already visible at the top.

Products in the Location

When you're at a position of interest, the app automatically shows all products present at that point. For each product you see: the name, internal code and available quantity.

If a product is tracked by lot or serial number, each lot appears as a separate row — so you see exactly which lot is where, without aggregations that hide detail.

Tap a product row to open the complete inventory detail: total quantity, quantity reserved (already committed in shipments in progress) and actually available quantity for picking.

Data is loaded when you arrive at a location. If in the meantime a colleague has picked or stored goods, refresh the screen with a downward swipe to see updated data.

Printing a Location Label

From any location you can print its label directly from the app. You have two options:

If you're reorganizing the warehouse or adding new shelves, bring a smartphone and a portable Zebra printer. You can navigate to each new location and print the label on-site, without returning to the PC.

When to Use Browse Locations

Practical Examples

Example 1 — Navigate to a shelf and print the label

  1. Open Browse Locations from the Warehouse menu. You see the main warehouses: WH/Stock, WH/Input, WH/Output.
  2. Tap WH/Stock. Zones appear: Zone A, Zone B, Zone C. Path at top shows: Root › WH/Stock.
  3. Tap Zone A. Shelves appear: Shelf A-01, Shelf A-02. Path updates: Root › WH/Stock › Zone A.
  4. Tap Shelf A-01, then tap shelf A-01-L2.
  5. App shows information for A-01-L2 (name, path, barcode) and list of products present with quantities.
  6. Tap Print Label button and choose Label Panel. Label is sent to the configured Zebra printer and comes out in seconds.

Example 2 — Direct access from QuickInfo

  1. You're in the QuickInfo screen and select location "WH/Stock/Zone B/Shelf B-03".
  2. App opens directly to Browse Locations on Shelf B-03, with the path already reconstructed at the top.
  3. You see products present with relative quantities. You notice an unexpected product — possible stocking error.
  4. Tap that row to open the inventory detail and verify the situation.

Example 3 — Quick inspection of a refrigerated zone

  1. Navigate to Refrigerated Zone. Path shows: Root › WH/Stock › Refrigerated Zone.
  2. Tap the first shelf. App loads the products present.
  3. You see 3 products: one has quantity 0 — all reserved for shipments in progress. Tap the row to see detail and check lot dates.
  4. Tap the zone name in the path to return to the upper level and move to the next shelf. Complete the inspection without ever opening Odoo on the PC.

Limits and Requirements

Keep these aspects in mind before using the feature:

Tips

Assign a barcode to every physical warehouse location in Odoo. It's displayed in the info panel and can be included in the printed label — useful for inventory operations and audit.

Keep warehouse hierarchy at 3-4 levels: Warehouse › Zone › Shelf › Shelf. Hierarchies too flat make it difficult to find a position; hierarchies too deep multiply the taps needed.

If you already know which location you want to check, reach it from QuickInfo instead of navigating the tree from the root. You save several taps, especially in warehouses with many levels.

Before storing an item in a new position, navigate to that destination and see what's already there. You avoid mixing incompatible references or occupying space already saturated.

Browse Locations shows logical inventory registered in Odoo, not physically verified. For formal reconciliation use the Inventory Count function, which records the actual physical count and automatically generates corrections.
