Ticket validator
Turn your Android device into a professional check-in scanner for events managed on Odoo. Scan tickets, instantly see who's in front of you, and confirm entry with a tap — all in real time.
Overview
The Ticket Validator is the function of SiltaFlow dedicated to managing entries to events. When you scan a ticket, the app queries Odoo in real time and immediately shows you a very clear result: green background if the ticket is valid, red background if there is a problem. Before you even press the check-in button, you can see the attendee's name, ticket type and all booking information.
To access the Ticket Validator, open SiltaFlow and tap the "Ticket Validator" item in the Events section. The Events module must be installed on Odoo and the connection to the instance must already be configured.
The Events module of Odoo must be installed on the linked instance. The app checks this on startup and shows a clear warning if the module is not present.
Scanning Methods
You can acquire the ticket code in three different ways, all active at the same time without having to change mode:
The camera recognizes all the most common barcode formats: QR Code, Code 128, EAN-13, EAN-8, Data Matrix, PDF417 and others. For digital tickets Odoo sent via email, the QR Code format is the most popular.
For events with more than 200 simultaneous entries, a hardware Zebra or Bluetooth scanner is the best choice: it reads the code in less than 300ms even in dark environments or with slightly damaged tickets, and frees the operator's hands.
Validation result
Every time you scan a ticket, the app contacts Odoo and displays the result within moments. The screen changes color clearly, so you can understand the situation even from afar:
Here's what the two main results look like on the screen:
The ticket card also shows a colored badge with the registration status:
Participant Card
After scanning, the app displays a structured card with all the registration information, organized into clear sections. Before pressing check-in you can check all the details:
| Section | Information shown |
|---|---|
| State | Registration status with colored badge (Open, Confirmed, Checked-in, Cancelled) |
| Contacts | Participant name, name of person who booked, company, email, telephone number |
| Ticket | Ticket type, barcode, purchase order reference |
| Event | Event name, start and end date and time, location |
| Check in | Date and time of last check-in, number of accesses (if multiple check-ins are enabled) |
Check in
Once your ticket has been validated, you can confirm check-in in two ways. In both cases the status is updated on Odoo in real time and the app emits sound and vibration feedback.
Manual mode
This is the default mode. After scanning, the ticket is validated but check-in is not performed automatically: the operator can read the participant's data on the card and decide whether to confirm. To proceed, tap the large green "Confirm Check-in" button. The generous size of the button makes it easy to tap even with gloves or in conditions of poor visibility.
- Scan or enter your ticket code
- Wait for the colored response (green = valid)
- Check the name and ticket type on the card
- Press the green "Confirm Check-in" button
- The app plays a success tone and a short vibration
Manual mode is ideal when you want to visually verify the attendee's ID before confirming entry.
Auto Check-in Mode
By activating Auto Check-in in the settings, check-in is performed automatically as soon as the ticket is recognized as valid, without requiring any confirmation tap. Soon after, the app is ready for the next scan.
- Enable "Auto check-in" in Validator Settings
- Scan the ticket code
- Check-in takes place immediately on Odoo
- Successful tone and vibration confirm the operation
- The app is immediately ready for the next ticket
Auto check-in mode is optimal for automatic turnstiles, express ticket machines and high-volume festivals. Before the event, check that the volume on your device is high enough to hear the error tone even in noisy environments.
Multiple Check-ins (Multi-session)
By default, a ticket that has already been used for check-in cannot be scanned again. You can change this behavior by enabling "Multiple Check-ins" in your settings. With this option active, the same ticket can be scanned multiple times — each access is recorded on Odoo with its own time.
This feature is useful for:
- Conferences where the participant enters and exits multiple rooms during the day
- Festivals and fairs with unlimited access over several days with the same subscription
- Separate validation for each service included in the ticket (meal, coffee break, etc.)
Ticket Actions
In addition to the standard check-in, you can perform other actions on your registration directly from the app. Each action updates Odoo in real time.
| Action | When to use it | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Check in | General admission to the event with a valid ticket | The registration is marked as "Checked-in" with date and time |
| Cancel check-in | You accidentally checked in on the wrong ticket | The registration returns to the "Open" state, the error is corrected |
| Invalid ticket | Duplicate ticket, suspicion of fraud or access to be revoked | The ticket is cancelled: no entry will be possible with that code on all terminals |
| Restore ticket | A ticket was canceled in error | The registration is returned to the "Open" status and the ticket becomes valid again |
If the "Request confirmed payment" option is enabled in Settings, the app will not allow check-in for registrations whose payment is not confirmed on Odoo. A specific warning will appear before blocking the entrance.
Search by Name
If an attendee doesn't have a ticket available — dead smartphone, lost paper ticket, illegible QR code — you can find their registration by searching by name, email or name of the person who made the reservation.
To use name search:
- Tap the Search by Name button on the validator's main screen
- Select the event from the drop-down list (you can filter it by name)
- Type the attendee's first name, last name, or email — the results appear as you type
- Each result shows the colored status badge and ticket type
- Tap the correct recording to open the complete card and proceed with the available actions
If an attendee purchased multiple tickets for the same event, the search shows all matching registrations — each with its own status. You can select the right one from the list.
Audio and Tactile Feedback
The app notifies you of the result of each scan with sound and vibration, so you don't have to look at the screen — essential in noisy environments or when managing a queue.
Each type of feedback can be enabled or disabled separately in the Validator Settings. The volume follows the device's media volume.
Settings
The Ticket Validator settings allow you to adapt the behavior of the app to the type of event, without touching the general settings of SiltaFlow.

Use Cases
Corporate conference with identity verification
A company organizes a conference for 300 people. Tickets are PDFs sent via email with QR code. At the entrance, two operators with Android tablets use the camera to scan the QR codes. Manual mode allows you to read the participant's name and verify the physical badge before pressing check-in. The card also shows the company it belongs to, useful for directing participants to reserved tables.
Music festival with hardware scanner
A three-day festival sells unlimited access passes. The operators at the entrances use scanners Zebra with belt. With auto check-in and multiple check-ins enabled, you validate over 600 tickets per hour without touching the screen. The differentiated success and error tone allows you to work without looking at the display. Odoo logs each time-stamped access for real-time statistics.
Training course with access conditional on payment
A training organization only allows entry to participants with confirmed payment. The "Require confirmed payment" option automatically blocks unauthorized check-ins. When an attendee arrives without a ticket, the operator uses name search to find the registration, verifies the document and proceeds.
Duplicate ticket management in real time
A cloned ticket is reported during a sporting event. The accreditation manager uses the "Invalid ticket" function on the reported code. From that moment, any check-in attempt with that code is blocked on all terminals simultaneously — without the need for radio communications between operators.
Tips
For events in locations with poor mobile coverage, set up a Wi-Fi network dedicated to operators. A stable connection guarantees fast response times even with many simultaneous inputs.
If you manage a single event per shift, set the default event filter in the settings before opening the gates. So you don't have to select the event every time you use the name search.
Always test the app with a few test tickets before the event. Check that the volume is loud enough to hear error tones in your specific environment — in noisy environments, you may need an external speaker.
Always keep a PDF list of attendees as a backup. If your connection to Odoo is lost, you can continue checking in manually and recover your data later.
Requirements
To use the Ticket Validator you need:
- Instance Odoo with the Events module installed and active
- Access credentials Odoo with read and write permissions on event logs
- Active internet connection throughout check-in (there is no offline mode)
- Android device with version 10 or later
- Device camera (if you want to use camera scanning)
- Tickets Odoo must have the barcode field completed for scanning; in the absence of the barcode only search by name is available
